What Can 5G Technology Do for Us?

In today’s fervent tech cell development, the qualities of networks become increasingly critical. The cell phone providers strive to come up with more than speed and type of transmitted data. Up to now, the GPRS, 3G, 4G have shown that data communication becomes faster and it can change the ways we conduct our lives by some important aspects, such as: communication, travel, shopping or entertainment. Massive amounts of data reflecting these aspects of life have not been unleashed yet. Every day and moment we put out there an overload of data and have the expectancy to use it better, with more efficiency and easiness.

In the current data development of carriers, major changes need to take effect to achieve non-stop interconnected services with real-time improvement. Along with AI, machine learning and the means to manage the connected devices, the 5G could be the leading edge component to support, sustain and advance the explosion of automation throughout the economy.

5G networks imply the following:

  • Higher data speed
  • Increased responsiveness or in 5G terminology, lower latency
  • Higher capacity to connect many smart devices and sensors instantly

And in the first stage, 5G is planned to rely on existing 4G which make them non-standalone initially, however the frequency used will increase as the 5G channels can hold up to 100 MHz for larger channels and higher speed which represents five times more than 4G. In a bonded system, the connected together 5G, the networks can boost capacity up to four times compared to 4G.

In the beginning the 5G phones will support the specific US deployed 5G systems. The frequency used by 5G is above or below 6GHz. The low-frequency 5G networks plan to be used with current cellular phones and embed more flexibility and larger channel sizes to accommodate greater speed. Therefore, providers can set up new G4 networks with a switch making them compatible to low-band G5 upon turning it on and even in this basic structure the speed could increase by up to half.

Applications in various fields are waiting for the 5G deployment, and some refer to high-resolution wireless surveillance cameras, virtual reality rehab and healing therapy, the interaction between parents and their babies in the incubator to improve communication, driverless cars which inherent devices connect with all other smart devices and cars in the traffic to improve safety.

Although the first obvious step of G5 deployment constitutes dramatic speed increase, the leading specialists continue working to advance the technology by achieving interconnectivity, communication and operation of numerous smart devices at a time, while considering solutions to boost their responsiveness.
